I'm so sorry I've been MIA... During these last two weeks, our family has been through a lot! Sadly, my father in law lost his battle against cancer and passed away. My husband and I had to travel to PR for the funeral. Luckily my parents were/are here in MN visiting us so they stayed here with the kids while we made our sad and short trip to PR. I never thought I'd cry my father in law's death the way I did and still am. He was a wonderful man, husband, father and an amazing grandfather! My kids will miss him terribly and that breaks my heart! Our loss has really made me think of how lucky we are to have each other, grateful to have a family, great friends and our health.

I've always loved animal print and I'm so happy it's everywhere these days! I've also seen these loafers in a couple of fashion blogs and really like their ability to work as a neutral shoe. Of course, there are several brands out there that have already made their version of it.
Luckily there's a pair for every budget!!! I found these at Kohl's yesterday and of course, I had to have a pair!!!

It's been a week since I started my 30 for 30 challenge . I must say, so far, so good! Of course, during this week there were a couple of days when I basically stayed in and didn't really wore anything except for my 'house clothes' (a.k.a. sweats, leggings or pj's...). These are a few of the outfits I put together...and yes, I cut and colored my hair...loving the haircut, can't say the same of the color...
For a detailed list of the items I chose for my 30 for 30, visit my original post.

You've seen them...they're everywhere! They remind me of when I was in the 6th grade! Obviously, I'm talking about neon colors! From nail polish to designer handbags, it seems spring has arrived earlier this year. Of course, I don't have the budget to splurge on a designer neon yellow bag, but when I saw that little yellow messenger, I knew I had to have it! So I bought it! Usually I would wait until items go on sale, but for this price I figured I could start wearing it before everybody else does, even if I get the 'I-can't-believe-she's-wearing-that-color-here-in-MN' look ... After all, it wouldn't be the first time...

Happy February! It's another Work it Wednesday! This week I'm trying pleats! I remember I didn't like them when I was growing up...I actually hated pleats! Most of it has to do with the fact that my Catholic school uniform had like a 100 pleats (the skirt). Yuck! Also, pleats were/are so difficult to iron! Oh well! These pleats look cuter than the ones I grew up with and...you know what? I don't iron anymore! I love my local cleaners!!!

Ok! This is it! I need to do this! For a while now I've been thinking of doing the 30 for 30 challenge. My wallet needs a break from me buying stuff! My closet needs a break from me bringing stuff and pretending to fit it all in! Plus, I just have to stop buying hangers! I know this is not a new thing, I've seen a lot of people complete the challenge before, I just think this is the right time for me to do it.

It's Wednesday!!! A Work it Wednesday!!!! If you're like me, you must be counting the days until the Jason Wu for Target collection hits the stores on February 5th! I just love, love the all designers collections for Target. I always try to buy at least one piece of each collection. I already have my eye on this dress in particular. I like that it's very figure flattering, dark enough for evening events, yet it has a little color for daytime occasions. Also, I LOVE it's nautical vibe! (I HEART all things nautical!).

I wish I could say that today I ran my weekly errands, did a few house chores and made dinner early... The truth is that my daughter is still sick, so that means she didn't go to school for the second day in a row, which means I'm pretty much behind with my to-do list. On top of that, I woke up with what feels like the beginning of a cold... These are the times when I want my mommy!... Anyways, I had to take 'Ms. Sicky' to a doctor's appointment so I didn't have a choice! I HAD to put myself together, shower, dress and get out of my bear cave! The same bear cave where I have been hibernating for the last 4 days...

I hope you all had a great weekend! Me...on the other hand, had a somewhat busy and not-so-much fun one! As I mentioned last week, we were getting ready for my son's first trip 'alone' (without us, that is). He has his 5th grade Field Trip, 3 days/2 nights at a conservation center here in MN. He left this morning... This is a huge milestone for both him, since he really doesn't like to spend the night anywhere else, and for myself as a 'worry-to-much' kind of mom... I hope we don't get a call in the middle of the night asking us to go pick him up because he can't sleep... Did I mention he's 4 hrs. away from home?
Btw, I already miss my son!
I really hope I packed everything he needs!!!
That was just a half of my weekend, I spent the other half taking care of my daughter who got a really bad case of the stomach flu... Yikes!
Poor baby girl!
So there went my weekend! Between planning, packing, cleaning/sanitizing, loads of laundry, and not much sleep... I'm so tired! The kind of tired I felt when my kids where newborns, which to me, has to be the worst kind of 'tired'!... I look like a hot mess... I must say, today I don't look or feel 'Happily Overdressed'... Oh well! Tomorrow is another day! A better day, I hope!
Btw, I already miss my son!

I always start craving spring clothes at this time of the year... Too bad spring will not be here in MN anytime soon... Still, I've noticed stores are full of bright colored clothing already. To me, that's a 'green light' to start introducing a little color to my winter wardrobe. I think green is a great color to start with! These are a couple of things I'd love to add to my closet!

I finally took some 'real' pictures of myself, in my house! Ever since I started my blog I've felt kind of 'intimidated' by all of those fabulous blogs out there. I mean, these ladies have great photographic skills and of course, better equipment/cameras! I figured I wouldn't get any better at taking pictures if I didn't actually gave it a try. So, here they are. I hope you like them, or at least just tolerate them? Please? he, he, he!!!
It all started this morning, when I woke up to this...and btw, that IS a negative sign next to the 16!!!

I just bought these jeans today! I really want to make them work, but I'm still scared of...RED!!!! These are a few ways of how I'd style them.

I really wasn't planning on going 'shopping' today. I did have to go to Target to get a few things for my son's upcoming school's 3-day field trip... Long story short, Target was my last shopping stop... I knew my friend Tina was at the mall, so I stopped to say hi and met her at Loft. Loft is having its 'take 50% off sale items', so I got 2 pairs of jeans. (I recently lost a little weight and honestly, I was starting to look like a rapper in my jeans...not pretty!). Anyways, I spent a total of $20.00 in 2 pairs of jeans!!!! Wow!!! I got a trouser jean and a flare one. This purchase was totally justified by my recent weight loss and sale prices. (This is what I plan to tell my husband if he asks me why I keep buying clothes...).
After Loft, we went to Victoria's Secret where I bought myself their 'Gorgeous' fragrance mist, $10.00 for the stocking stuffer size. Love it!!!
After VS, I stopped at Old Navy, (my all-time favorite store in the whole wide world), just to check the sales rack. Big mistake! The sales rack was FULL of items and on top of that, they were having their 'take an extra 30% off sale items'. So, what's a girl to do? I asked myself. I got 3 shirts, 1 pair of red jeggings and a jacket. I spent a total of $37.00 (I had a $10.00 coupon). Again, wow!!!
All of a sudden I remembered the purpose of my visit to the mall today... Target. Son. Field trip. Thank you. So I went to Target, found almost everything I needed and then some. I was a good girl, I didn't buy anything for myself, well, except for the lip butter (for which I've read great reviews) and my Chobani yogurt, so I think I did good, considering Target is my second favorite store in the whole wide world!

Right now... I think I need all of these things... I need. I want. I'd like. I wish. What's the difference?!...
BTW... I'm having some 'technical issues' with my camera... Hopefully I'd be able to post some real pictures some day!!!

I've always had a hard time when it comes to choosing from a list. If I feel I have options, I will literally drive myself nuts before deciding on just one. If you ask me who's my favorite actress I'd always say something different! If you ask me today, I'd say Meryl Streep in a heart beat! I just love her! Who doesn't? If you ask me who's my style icon, same thing! Possible answers: Reese Witherspoon, Rachel Bilson, Lauren Conrad, Kate Middleton, Jennifer Aniston, Katie Holmes...and the list goes on and on...but...something 'magical' has happened!
For years now, I've had an inspiration board in my closet. I'm always, updating it. My husband just loves to see me sitting up in bed, surrounded by all my magazines, scissors in hand, looking for the perfect outfit or idea. He says I look like a school girl finishing a school project...oh, men!!!! I then pin those pictures on my inspiration board with the idea to make my life easier when putting an outfit together. This is how it usually looks!

It's Wednesday! I just bought myself a little red dress... I think I'll wear it on Friday to a Holiday party. Yes. Holiday party. Apparently, we're still celebrating the Holidays! That's fine with me! These are a few ideas on how I'd wear this dress. I feel I'm getting out my comfort zone with this one. I mean, it is RED! For this same reason, I think the best way to go is to just let the dress make the outfit. I'll try to keep accessories to a minimum. I said I'll TRY!

long sleeve top, loose shirt, Marc by Marc jacob, flip flop shoes, Bow shoes, Black sequin handbag, jewelry, Acrylic jewelry, Bow jewelry, Bow Decorative Pillow, Comforter Set, Bow Peep-Toe Pump
I'm loving all things bow tie these days! Lately I've been spotting these cuties everywhere! I already got a pair of earrings and a cocktail ring. Now, I 'desperately' need a necklace! And how about that lovely comforter set?...Maybe not for me, but for my little girl...I don't think my husband would appreciate tiny little bows on his bed...

Inspired by yesterday's Work it Wednesday post, I decided to show you a couple of things that would make me very happy... Except for the boots, that is!!! I don't like white shoes, but do like the idea of a 'pearl white' rubber boot, for those who do like white on their feet!

Old Navy knit cardigan, Old Navy ruffle tank top, Zara snakeskin ballet flat, Zippered tote bag, Dorothy Perkins bangles, jewelry, Givenchy post earrings, Old Navy istressed Sequined Boyfriend Jeans
I have always liked pearls. I mean, how can anyone not like pearls! They're elegant, classic and timeless. All women should own at least a pair of pearl earrings, even if they're just faux pearls...It doesn't matter, the look is the same... This first look, is something I would totally wear to a lunch with girlfriends or maybe to dinner with my hubby. Of course, it is also a great look for a doctor's appointment or a parent/teacher conference?...he, he!!!
Zara sequin blouse, H m jacket, Old Navy zipper jeans, Michael Antonio black shoes, Forever 21 clutch bag, Wet Seal bangles jewelry, Tahitian pearl jewelry, Essie 'Luxeffects' Topcoat
This look screams date night to me... I would wear a similar look on a night out with my husband and friends...Where to?...Downtown Minneapolis for sure! Let's go to the W hotel! or maybe Crave's rooftop? Or Both???
Old Navy crochet top, Sanctuary fake fur vest, Cheap Monday cropped jeans, Dorothy Perkins crossbody handbag, Charlotte Russe pearl jewelry, Pearl jewelry, Givenchy south sea pearl earrings, Womens Mossimo Supply Co. Kloe Wedge Booties - O... : Target
This would make a perfect outfit on a cold MN night. I'd wear this look to a Holiday party, a housewarming party or a fancy restaurant. I like it's elegant but also very comfortable at the same time. Love, love, love it!!!
...and this is me...wearing my pearls...
...and me again...those are my shoes back there...I'll post about my closet one of these days...

Happy new year!!! Oh the possibilities!!! I would like to start the year by NOT making any resolutions... Personally, I don't ever follow or accomplish resolutions. So, this year, I've decided to just welcome 2012 with faith, hope and a positive attitude. I figure that by starting the year this way, maybe I'll be able to achieve the list of things I'd like to do this year, for a change!...I'll just have to wait and see if it works!
